INAP Technical Manager

Gilles Tremblay is the Technical Manager of the International Network for Acid Prevention (INAP). INAP is a mining-industry led program and he coordinates activities that drives leading practice in acid and metalliferous drainage risk management. Prior to joining INAP Gilles worked for the Government of Canada for more than 33 years coordinating large multi-party R&D consortia related to environmental issues affecting the mining industry.

Kelsey Norlund is Director, Technical Operations, with the BC Ministry of Mining and Critical Minerals, based in Victoria, British Columbia, where she contributes to initiatives supporting the mining and critical minerals sector. She brings a strong background in industry engagement and government collaboration, supporting responsible resource development and advancing sector priorities in British Columbia.

Stephen Day is a Corporate Consultant (Geochemistry) with SRK Consulting based in Vancouver. He has worked on the geochemical considerations for management of wastes at mines and other infrastructure projects since 1989.

Dr. Russell Staines is a Principal Environmental Geochemist with BHP, with more than 20 years’ experience in the minerals and environment sectors, and experience in multiple commodities in a variety of global settings. Russell is Chair of the Operating Committee of the International Network for Acid Prevention (INAP) and an advocate for raising awareness and understanding of AMD related issues, with involvement in research and development and capacity building initiatives both within INAP and in BHP.

Bill Price helps organize the annual BC Mine Reclamation Symposium and the BC ML/ARD workshop. Past work on metal leaching and acidic drainage includes as a mine regulator, coordination and review of research and author of various prediction and mitigation guidelines.

Kate Patterson

Klohn Crippen Berger, Tailings and Water Resources Engineer, Principal

Kate Patterson is a Principal and the Water Practice Area Lead in the Mining Group at Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. (KCB). She is a senior Civil Engineer with nearly 20 years of global experience in mine waste management, specializing in tailings and water strategic planning, design, and risk management. Kate holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Hydrotechnical Engineering from the University of British Columbia. Her passion lies in building strong connections between technical disciplines (e.g., hydrotechnical, geochemistry, geotechnical) to develop safe and environmentally responsible tailings solutions that benefit society.
